Food for thought ! Seeding responsible consumption & production

15 November 2021

The Kit, Royal Tropical Insitut

What will the future of our food systems look like?

What are the threats and opportunities for feeding the fast growing world population in a sustainable way?

On November 15, experts from the world of food will share their views and dilemma’s in an open discussion and bring you up to date on the latest insights and directions.

  • You will hear from Royal FrieslandCampina on how they are actively striving to feed the world’s growing population with better and affordable nutrition, by introducing regenerative agriculture.
  • How the founder of Join the Pipe went from being a movie producer to selling water in recyclable and reusable bottles, and an advocate for consumers drinking more tap water
  • How Bord Bia developed a national Irish food program to address the EU Farm to Fork program.
  • From Sodexo on how they are using advances in technology to reduce food waste.

Food systems cannot be resilient to crisis such as covid-19 if they are not sustainable. We need to redesign our food systems which are currently responsible for almost ⅓ of global GHG emissions, consume large amounts of natural resources (⅓ of all food produced is wasted), resulting in biodiversity loss and do not allow fair economic returns and livelihoods for all actors.

Putting our food systems on a sustainable path also brings new opportunities for operators all across the food value chain. New technologies and scientific discoveries, combined with increasing public awareness and demand for sustainable food, will benefit all stakeholders.

We are once again delighted to announce Tieneke Breemhaar, will be the seminar moderator. In keeping with previous seminars,  there will be time to listen, reflect, ask questions and network.

We hope to have the honor and pleasure of your participation at this event.

The seminar will start at 15:00 and finish at 17:30 at the Koninklijk Instituut voor de Tropen – KIT.
