The Climate Challenge: SDGs and the Need for Action by Government and Businesses

Date

16 February 2021

The 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) constitute a unique opportunity to bring countries and citizens of the world together to embark on a shared agenda of improving the lives of people everywhere.
This one-hour event, organised by the Ireland Netherlands Business Association (INBA) and the Embassy of Ireland in the Netherlands is designed to kick-start a series of INBA events and forums throughout 2021, centered on the theme of the United Nations SDGs. This series of events will be of particular relevance and interest for companies doing business between the Netherlands and Ireland and will seek to explore opportunities for promoting sustainable development through Irish/Dutch business and investment.
This inaugural event aims to be a valuable scene-setter for the activities of the rest of the year. It will offer an overview of Irish and Dutch perspectives on the importance of the SDGs, and where opportunities for investment and progress are possible.

Three expert speakers will elaborate on Irish and Dutch priorities from government and industry perspectives:

Marcel Beukenboom, The Netherlands’ Climate Envoy
Sinead Walsh, Ireland’s Climate Envoy
Hildagarde McCarville, CEO Veolia Netherlands

H.E. Kevin Kelly, Ambassador of Ireland to the Netherlands, will provide introductory remarks. The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Gordon Campbell, chair of the Ireland-Netherlands Business Association.
